ROGOWSKA THROUGH TO SECOND ROUND OF FRENCH OPEN

Olivia Rogowska, a 17-year-old wildcard entry ranked No.256 in the world, produced a shock win over Russian glamour girl Maria Kirilenko 6-4 6-4 overnight at Roland Garros.

Kirilenko, ranked 47, had made it through to the second round at Roland Garros in the past two years and was ranked No.18 in the world in July 2008.

Rogowska, who made her women's grand slam debut at the Australian Open in January, had a slightly shaky start with Kirilenko enjoying an early break before the Australian broke back twice to take the first set.

She will next face Ukraine's Kateryna Bondarenko, who is ranked No.60 and defeated 17th seed Patty Schnyder of Switzerland in their first round match.

Olivia is currently with the Australian Institute of Sport however has been coached since she was 4 years old by long time YONEX player and coach Andrew McClean.

Olivia uses the RDS002 Tour and has been a YONEX sponsored athlete since she was 12 years old.
